The Archdiocese of Paris had planned to withdraw from the chapel Notre-Dame-du-Lys by June because of the cost of repairing the aging buildings - €1 million in the short term and about €3 million over the longer term. The proposal would have abolished both, the Novus Ordo and the Latin Mass that are celebrated in the Church. The Sunday Latin Mass drew around 150–250 faithful, while the Wednesday Latin Mass was dedicated to young people. Following strong opposition from parishioners and supporters of the chapel, the plan was revised. Instead, a religious community will assume responsibility for the chapel and its youth patronage beginning in September. This change has since been confirmed on the chapel's official website, although the announcement refers only to "a Community" composed of a priest and a seminarian, without identifying the institute. According to PaixLiturgique.org, Paris Archdiocese considered entrusting the chapel to the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest (…მეტი
"Therese superstar," a breathtakingly authentic documentary of the rise of devotion to St. Therese from 1897 to 1997. Many thanks to Remi Mauger and France 3 Normandie for making it and to Gloria.tv for hosting this indispensable piece of history.
Therese Lisieux F3 30. The bond between seeing and hearing in faith-knowledge is most clearly evident in John’s Gospel. For the Fourth Gospel, to believe is both to hear and to see. Faith’s hearing emerges as a form of knowing proper to love: it is a personal hearing, one which recognizes the voice of the Good Shepherd (cf. Jn 10:3-5); it is a hearing which calls for discipleship, as was the case with the first disciples: "Hearing him say these things, they followed Jesus" (Jn 1:37). But faith is also tied to sight. Seeing the signs which Jesus worked leads at times to faith, as in the case of the Jews who, following the raising of Lazarus, "having seen what he did, believed in him" (Jn 11:45). At other times, faith itself leads to deeper vision: "If you believe, you will see the glory of God" (Jn 11:40). In the end, belief and sight intersect: "Whoever believes in me believes in him who sent me. And whoever sees me sees him who sent me" (Jn 12:44-45). Joined to hearing, seeing then …მეტი
Humpback Whale Crucified among Priests, Altar Servers and an Altar: The blasphemous play Timmy: Hope Dies Last, which premiered on 11 July at the Ernst Deutsch Theater in Hamburg, Germany, portrays the stranded humpback whale Timmy as a Christ-like figure. Directed by Alexander Klessinger, the production features a 'Mass for Timmy', a crucifixion. The production was inspired by Timmy, whose stranding in the Baltic Sea this spring prompted a nationwide rescue effort. The whale was found dead off the coast of Denmark approximately two weeks after being freed. The operation reportedly cost around €2 million.
მეტი

Football Fan Mass in Argentina. Worse than Germany: On 16 July, football fan signs, including altar decorations, flags, hats and shirts, were incorporated into a Mass at the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria parish in Córdoba's Villa Argentina neighbourhood. The service was led by Rev. Luis Luján. He explained that the idea was to stay close to people and use the excitement around the national team to communicate Gospel values.

Christ said, My house is a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves. Ecclesiastics says there is a time and a place for everything, but a church is not a place of revelry.
In a statement published on July 16, the Society of Saint Pius X asserted that “Pope Francis’s grants of confessional faculties and for the ability of the SSPX priests to obtain marriage delegation remain in force”—two weeks after the Vatican stated they were no longer in force.

Archbishop Wrote That Leo XIV Shares Pro-Homosexual Agenda: The pro-homosexual final report of the Synod's Study Group Number 9 should not surprise anybody, because certain bishops are encouraging the homosex community, Cardinal Burke told Edward Pentin in a recent video interview. These bishops claim that the Church is changing and that the homosexuals should continue in their sinful ways. Cardinal Burke mentioned the letter from an Archbishop who claimed that "Leo XIV shared this view, because he doesn’t talk about sexual morality." For Cardinal Burke it is completely irresponsible to write something like that.
Leo XIV May Replace Cardinal Parolin as Secretary of State: The Substack.com account The Pillar speculates that Leo XIV could replace Cardinal Pietro Parolin, 71, as Secretary of State as early as this summer. Citing anonymous Vatican sources, it says Leo XIV has concerns about Parolin's effectiveness in coordinating Vatican departments. The article identifies Archbishop Paul Gallagher, 72, and Archbishop Fortunatus Nwachukwu, 66, as the leading candidates.
At the largest and most influential of these, the Secretariat of State, Pope Leo XIV could replace Cardinal Pietro Parolin as Secretary of State as early as this summer, according to several diplomatic and Vatican sources who spoke to The Pillar... ...The question of who might succeed Gambetti at Saint Peter’s is more complicated. Vatican sources told The Pillar that Parolin himself might be appointed to the position. However, other senior sources told The Pillar that the pope intended to move Cardinal Rolandas Makrickas, current archpriest of the Basilica of Saint Mary Major to the position, while other rumors point to the appointment of Archbishop Diego Ravelli, Master of Pontifical Liturgical Celebrations...
The contribution of three women - two religious sisters and one laywoman - at the Dicastery for Bishops is "highly valued and important," the Prefect, Archbishop Filippo Iannone, told Glas-Koncila.hr on July 14. As head of the Dicastery for Bishops, Monsignor Iannone oversees the Vatican office responsible for evaluating candidates for bishopric. However, many of these appointments are very controversial and difficult to justify from a Catholic perspective. Appointments are one of the most important ways in which a pope exercises governance and reveals his true priorities. Francis announced in July 2022 that women would become members of the Dicastery for Bishops for the first time in history. He then appointed Sr. Raffaella Petrini, Sr. Yvonne Reungoat and María Lía Zervino. Leo XIV retained the reform by confirming Petrini and Zervino as members and appointing Sr. Simona Brambilla. Reungoat's term ended. All four women are closely associated with the Francis-era deform agenda and its …მეტი

26 Years Later: Why Jeanette Hall Is Still Grateful to Be Alive: In Oregon, USA, on July 17, 2000, Jeanette Hall was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. Believing she had no future, she asked her doctor for assisted suicide under Oregon's newly enacted law. Instead of writing the prescription, Dr. Kenneth Stevens took the time to understand her fears and encouraged her to consider treatment. One question changed everything: "Wouldn't you like to see your son graduate from the police academy?" Jeanette chose treatment. She survived, attended her son's graduation, and years later told Dr. Stevens: "You saved my life. If I had gone to a doctor that believed in assisted suicide, I would not be here."

Worse than Germany: In Leffe, Bergamo, Italy, projections of Greek mythological deities were displayed on the façade of the Church of San Michele as part of a local summer festival themed around the "Heroes and Gods of Olympus." The projections began on 16 July and were scheduled to continue through 19 July 2026. The initiative was authorized by the parish priest, Don Giuseppe Merlini.

A City of London Banker Takes the Helm at the Vatican Bank: On 15 July, the Vatican's Institute for the Works of Religion (IOR) announced the appointment of Giovanni Boscia as its next Director General. He will take office on 1 October, succeeding Gian Franco Mammì after eleven years. Unlike his predecessor, who spent his entire career within the IOR, Boscia comes from international finance.
