Brigita Irská. Brigita z Kildare či Brigita Irská (mezi 451 a 453, Faughart – 1. února523Kildare) je podle legendárního podání považována za zakladatelku kláštera v Kildare a dalších klášterů. Historické prameny ohledně jejího života jsou velmi nejednotné a nejstarší dochovaný životopis svaté Brigity vznikl až dvě století po její smrti. Il suo palazzo diventa un luogo dove ove confluiscono altre nobili romane come Sofronia, Asella, Principia, Marcellina, Lea. Lo stesso vescovo di Alessandria, Pietro, nel 373 è suo ospite. E proprio dopo il 373 la casa di Marcella diventa un centro di propaganda monastica. Riservatezza, penitenza, digiuno, preghiera, studio, vesti dimesse caratterizzano la vita quotidiana come risulta dalle lettere di san Girolamo, divenuto dal 382 il direttore spirituale del gruppo ascetico.
