Does Leo XIV use archdioceses as dumping grounds for unwanted Vatican officials?
Italian priest Filippo Di Giacomo criticises the appointment of Cardinal Mauro Gambetti as Archbishop of Chieti-Vasto.
Chieti-Vasto is a historically significant episcopal see in central and southern Italy. Di Giacomo suggests that Leo XIV instrumentalised the Archdiocese to get Gambetti out of the Roman Curia.
Di Giacomo also reports an unconfirmed claim that Gambetti accepted the transfer only after being promised an auxiliary bishop. Gambetti reportedly intends to retain other “commitments”. If true, the archdiocese could end up with an archbishop whose attention is elsewhere.
Di Giacomo warns that the same misfortune may await the Archdiocese of Pescara-Penne, with the likely arrival of another “castoff from the Roman Curia.”

FILIPPO DI GIACOMO: “IL 3 OTTOBRE IL CARDINALE MAURO GAMBETTI È DIVENTATO ARCIVESCOVO DI CHIETI-VASTO” – “SENZA NESSUN GIUDIZIO SULL'ESERCIZIO DELL'ENORME POTERE AVUTO DA GAMBETTI, PERCHÉ UN'ARCIDIOCESI IMPORTANTE E GRANDE COME QUELLA DI CHIETI-VASTO DEVE RICEVERE UN PASTORE (E NON È LA PRIMA VOLTA) DISTANTE DALLE SENSIBILITÀ LOCALI E NOMINATO SOLO PER RISOLVERE UNO SQUILIBRIO NELLA CURIA ROMANA?”

“Zelensky has found some suckers who give him all the billions he asks for, so he just keeps on asking for more,” the MEP said in a video on social media on Friday. He argued that Zelensky’s demands have continued to mount, citing Kiev’s alleged budget shortfalls of €27 billion in 2026 and €32 billion in 2027, followed by a fresh €70 billion demand on top of the €90 billion loan approved in April.

US Bishop bans St. Michael prayer after Mass.
Bishop Mark Beckman of Knoxville, Tennessee, has directed priests to discontinue the communal recitation of the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel immediately before or after Mass.
In his October 16 article, he claims that in order to celebrate the liturgy “in accordance with the mind of the Church” priests need to “catechize the people of God as we move away from additional prayers recited together immediately before, during, and immediately after Mass.”
Additional prayers - including those to St. Michael, St. Francis, and the Holy Spirit - should not become regular additions to the celebration of Mass. He cited the Second Vatican Council's call for a liturgy marked by “noble simplicity.”

But at that time shall Michael rise up, the great prince, who standeth for the children of thy people: and a time shall come such as never was from the time that nations began even until that time. And at that time shall thy people be saved, every one that shall be found written in the book. 2And many of those that sleep in the dust of the earth, shall awake: some unto life everlasting, and others unto reproach, to see it always. 3But they that are learned shall shine as the brightness of the firmament: and they that instruct many to justice, as stars for all eternity. 4But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time appointed: many shall pass over, and knowledge shall be manifold.

anecdote from the surgeon that operated on Pope Leo XIV: "On the second day after the operation, we turned around and found him arranging the chairs in the chapel himself. We said, “Holy Father, we can do that.” And he replied, “It doesn’t matter. I can do it, so I will.” What can I say? He really was an absolutely ideal patient."

The Unitive Trap: How Modern Personalism Denies Original Sin in the Mariage Bed
For two millennia, the Catholic Church stood as an unyielding fortress against the chaotic currents of carnal indulgence. Guided by the crystalline logic of Saint Thomas Aquinas and the sobering pastoral wisdom of Saint Augustine, Christian tradition understood precisely what the marital act was: a raw, biological reality ordered strictly to the procreation of immortal souls, protected by the legal bond of marital fidelity.
Today, however, that fortress has been quietly hollowed out from within. Under the guise of a mid-century theological update, the contemporary Church has largely adopted the vocabulary of the 1960’s “sexual revolution,” baptizing the secular world’s obsession with "making love" by masking it in the language of "personalism" and the "unitive meaning" of the marriage bed.
By elevating the highly subjective, emotional concept of the "unitive end" to a co-equal status with procreation, modern …Zwiṅwe

REVELATIONS OF ST. BRIDGET, 1 Book, 26 chapter ...
But people in this age are joined in marriage for seven reasons: First, because of facial beauty. Second, because of wealth. Third, because of the despicable pleasure and indecent joy they get out of their impure intercourse. Fourth, because of feasts with friends and uncontrolled gluttony. Fifth, because of vanity in clothing and eating, in joking and entertainment and games and other vanities. Sixth, for the sake of procreating children but not to raise them for the honor of God or good works but for worldly riches and honor. Seventh, they come together for the sake of lust and they are like brute beasts in their lustful desires. They come to the doors of my church with one mind and consent, but all their desires and inner thoughts are completely against me. They prefer their own will, which aims at pleasing the world, instead of my will. If all their thoughts and wishes were directed toward me, and if they entrusted their will into …Zwiṅwe

Leo XIV will be discharged from hospital this afternoon, earlier than initially planned.
Pope Leo XIV will be discharged from Rome’s Gemelli Hospital early Saturday afternoon following surgery for lung cancer. Doctors Luigi Carbone and Stefano Margaritora declared the Pope fit for discharge after reviewing blood tests, a chest X-ray and his overall clinical condition.
According to the Holy See Press Office, he will return to the Vatican later today and recite the Angelus on Sunday from the window of the papal apartment.

Deception and inconsistencies, like with Amoris Laetitia. An alleged serious lung surgery where the lower part of his right lung was removed? Really? Then the reports about his supposed rapid recovery are completely unbelievable.

In 1965, there were 181,421 religious Sisters in the United States. Today, they number 33,135 with only 1% under the age of 40. Incredibly, there are more Sisters over the age of 80 than under 60.

Numbers reveal a historic shift in global Catholicism.
New Vatican statistics show that the worldwide number of priests rose by just 425 in 2024, reaching 407,421.
The regional differences are striking.
Europe lost 2,483 priests in a single year, while Africa gained 1,676 and Asia added 1,065. Europe's losses nearly wiped out the gains elsewhere.
Meanwhile, Africa has overtaken Europe in the number of baptized Catholics: 288.3 million compared with 287.2 million. Africa is also the only continent where both religious sisters and seminarians are increasing.
The global picture of future vocations is less encouraging. The number of seminarians fell by 2,891 to 103,604, a decline of 2.7% in one year. Religious sisters declined by another 9,292.
Perhaps the most striking figure concerns the Church's missionary presence: of 111,602 mission stations worldwide, more than 96% have no resident priest.
At the same time, the Catholic population has grown to 1.422 billion, an increase of 16.7 million …Zwiṅwe

Biblical Cosmology: The Earth Is a Stationary Plane Beneath the Celestial Vault - The Bible makes no mention of outer space or the trillions upon trillions of other planets that modern astronomers claim exist. Nor does it mention a Big Bang beginning or the force of gravity that keeps people and oceans attached to all sides of a rotating sphere. The cosmology described in the Bible is clearly geocentric, fixed, and motionless, with a flat Earth. Source: youtube.com/watch?v=mkDfxFR5gwg

Pick your favorite travel website, like Travelocity. Create two flight plans circumnavigating the earth. One above the equator and the other below the equator. If the earth was flat, the flight below the equator should be about 3 times longer "near the ice wall" than "near the flat earth center". You will find that they are nearly the same.

Well staged: Pope Leo XIV greeted a young Ukrainian cancer survivor, who told him: “You too will overcome this and continue your work of spreading the Gospel.” The Holy Father first met Varvara, a 13-year-old Ukrainian refugee on December 31, 2025, at the conclusion of his General Audience, as she awaited surgery for cancer. She told the Pope that their hug in December had given her “the strength to overcome the illness that, fortunately, I have now beaten.” She told him that, as soon as she learned he had been hospitalized, she felt she “wanted to come to Rome to pray for him beneath his window and return that important embrace."

Leo XIV-appointed Spanish Bishop José Antonio Satué sent a supportive message to the 15th gathering of homosexual Christians in Chipiona, Spain, on October 9–11: “You have much to contribute to the Church.”
Leo XIV appointed Satué Bishop of Málaga in June 2025 despite his public record as homosexualist. Satué described homosex "blessings" as “a step forward”.
The homosex gathering, organized by PADIS Canarias (Pastoral para la Diversidad Sexual en Canarias), attracted just over 100 participants.
Monsignor Satué wrote them that everyone deserves to be heard, welcomed, and treated with dignity. He claimed that homosexuals suffered within the Church and urged that it not be trivialized.
At the meeting, participants agreed to establish a nationwide network of homosexual Christian groups, extending into Portugal. They also intend to prepare a document outlining their proposals for bishops, possibly by the end of 2026. They called for pastoral ministry developed “with” homosexuals rather than …Zwiṅwe

The surgeon who operated on Leo XIV, Prof. Stefano Margaritora, sees no medical reason to cancel the November trip to South America.
He explained that the lung cancer was discovered “entirely by chance” during routine abdominal examinations. A small spot appeared at the base of the lung. Had it been slightly higher, he said, it would have gone unnoticed. The Pope had no symptoms.
Margaritora also recounted finding Leo XIV rearranging chairs in the hospital chapel just two days after surgery. When staff offered to do it for him, the Pope reportedly replied: “It doesn't matter. I can do it, so I do it.”
The surgeon expects a rapid recovery.

‘No Kings’ Events This Weekend to Focus on Voter Turnout, Organizers Say
nytimes.com/…026/10/16/us/what-we-know-no-kings-v…
Organizers are hoping to promote early voting ahead of the midterm elections in this latest round of nationwide demonstrations that have previously focused on President Trump.
By Madison Malone Kircher
Oct. 16, 2026 “No Kings,” the coalition known for blanketing the country in protests against President Trump, is setting its sights on a new target as midterm elections approach: voter turnout.
On Oct. 17, organizers around the United States will hold “No Kings: Vote Early” events to promote early voting and help people form voting plans like requesting absentee ballots, checking on their voter registrations or finding neighbors to help them drive to the polls.
“Previous No Kings mobilizations showed the strength of people standing together and rejecting abuses of power,” organizers wrote on the event website. “No Kings: Vote Early is intended to expand on this as …Zwiṅwe
