Leo XIV visited the Great Mosque of Algiers this afternoon. With minarets rising 265 metres, it is the third-largest mosque after those in Mecca and Medina. Upon entering, the Pope removed his shoes. However, some of his bodyguards and media personnel kept theirs on, proving that this was a performance for the cameras rather than an act of respect or religion.
