Contrary to much popular belief, the catchphrase "hate the sin but love the sinner" is not of biblical origin, and caution should be given to its connotations. The tendency it too often leads to today is to view the sinner as a victim of his sin, rather than the author of the sin he commits.
In truth, there are biblical teachings that contravene the above cliché, for example the following (from the Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible):
-- "But to God the wicked and his wickedness are hateful alike" (Wisd. 14:9).
-- "Neither shall the wicked dwell near thee: nor shall the unjust abide before thy eyes. Thou hatest all the workers of iniquity: thou wilt destroy all that speak a lie" (Ps. 5:6-7).
-- "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth that which is evil"…

(Warsaw) The Jewish-friendly words that Pope Francis said on Monday to the Chairman of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) , who was also appreciative of this praise, is cause for violent polemics in Poland.
The official statement from the Vatican about the audience granted by the Pope to the highest leadership of the WJC, and the official statement of the WJC did not meet with overall approval.
More so the criticism was concerned that Pope Francis, did not defend the Poles, but that he should affirm the Jewish criticism.
The WJC statement said that the Pope had shown himself “concerned” about ritual slaughter and Cardinal Koch, the President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity was commissioned “to investigate” the mattter and within the convene a special meeting next week.

But Francis, who has made the forgetting of formalities a trademark of his papacy, bowed when he met a smiling Rania as she visited the Vatican with her husband King Abdullah II on Thursday.
"Up until the 19th century visitors would kiss the pope's shoes, and the tradition is still that all visitors, women included, bow to him, but Francis behaves as he did before he became pope and is not interested in protocol," a senior Vatican official told The Daily Telegraph.

Washington - In June, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg joined four of her Supreme Court colleagues in overturning the federal law defining marriage as between a man and a woman.
This weekend, she is poised to officiate at a same-sex wedding.
The couple is Michael Kaiser, president of Washington's Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and economist John Roberts. John Dow, vice president for communications at the Kennedy Center, told CNN the couple would be married on Saturday by Ginsburg.
Ginsburg's role in the ceremony was first reported Friday by The Washington Post, which said she spoke about it in a recent interview.
"I think it will be one more statement that people who love each other and want to live together should be able to enjoy the blessings and the strife in the marriage relationship," the Post quoted her as saying.
