Cardinal notes “changing understandings of gender,” says Church must discern how to change.
At Leo XIV's meeting marking ten years of Amoris Laetitia on October 8, Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão delivered a speech on the challenges facing families in Asia. He is the President of the Conference of Bishops of India.
Discussing changes in the “identity, nature and composition of the family,” the cardinal observed that “new forms of partnership and cohabitation are emerging, amid changing understandings of gender and relationships in urban settings.”
Reflecting on what the Church has learned from its pastoral work, Ferrão declared: “Pastoral work is itself a place of discernment. We don't arrive with ready-made answers. We discern together with families and, in doing so, we learn how the Church herself is being asked to change.”
In his conclusion, the cardinal stated that “there is no single stereotype of an ideal family” and asked, “What is the Holy Spirit asking the Church to change – not …More
Archbishop told Pope Leo's Vatican meeting on Amoris Laetitia that sexual morality is just an "ideal" to strive for. He called for a shift in the Church’s culture, despite unchanging Catholic teaching on chastity and marriage.
Senior Cardinal urges Vatican to stop insisting on the "ideal family" and consider cohabitation, interfaith unions, and changing ideas about gender.

This 'persoective' is totally baffling, and genuinely idiotic. Truth doesn't change to fit the temper of the times.
St. Thomas the Apostle would be weeping if he were not in the presence of the Beatific Vision.
Gender is a grammatical term and has no reference to biology or sex. Inventing new meanings for words serves only the evil one.
In his conclusion, the cardinal stated that “there is no single stereotype of an ideal family”
The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches: 2202 - A man and a woman united in marriage, together with their children, form a family. This institution is prior to any recognition by public authority, which has an obligation to recognize it. It should be considered the normal reference point by which the different forms of family relationship are to be evaluated.
Maybe the cardinal should read the Catechism.
I think a motu proprio secret tribunal commanding a well organised and trained task force will be formed soon to handle heretics in the higher hierarchy. They are relatively soft targets after all.
I would challenge the cardinal to ask any 5 year old how many genders there are. They will give the correct answer than this cardinal will the answer, too. Apparently, he never learned it. Or, he knows the answer and is out to destroy the Church with demonic teachings.
