Roman Rite NOT Discussed – Next Consistory in June

Several sources confirmed that the Mass in the Roman rite was not mentioned at the consistory on 7–8 January.

South African Cardinal Wilfrid Napier, 84, told Edward Pentin that the Roman Latin Mass was not discussed: "I think the main point was how to get the whole Church to evangelise at the same level."

Cardinal Jean-Paul Vesco, 63, of Algeria, confirmed to Niwa Limbu that they had not discussed any form of liturgy: "We talked about the importance of the Eucharist in the context. of synodality."

Only two dozen of the 170 cardinals were able to speak during the 'free interventions'.

Speaker of the Vatican press office Matteo Bruni added in the evening that future consistories will be held once a year and last 3–4 days. The next consistory is planned for 27–28 June.

How is that a new governing style? Francis did essentially the same with this 'C-9 council', except that it involved only a select few cardinals, rather than the whole body.

Leo XIV’s consistory was a flop!

More like a premeditated step in general plan of Church destruction

I agree. It served it's purpose of raising false hopes in those pesky traditionalists to keep "waiting" to see the "real" Leo being his own man apart from Francis' legacy. What did it show? An 'empty suit' 'company man' still guided by Francis & his faithless collaborators!

@Wilma Lopez Not to the Francis Cardinals who were there. It went just as they wanted it to go and exactly how they planned it.

@SonoftheChurch Except for Cardinal Zen... May God bless him!

Obvious gaslighting. As obvious as Trad Stockholm Syndrome

Stockholm Syndrome!!!

Once again, Trad, Inc. has been tricked by the enemy and played like a violin. Hoodwinked and bamboozled. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving bunch.

@SonoftheChurch strong support to your great opinion.... yes.... Strong support to your great opinion... yes!! We must now firmly dispel the illusions surrounding Pope Leo XIV, or rather, another erroneous Pope, Robert Prevost. Prevost, following in Bergoglio's footsteps, continues to appoint numerous erroneous bishops and is surrounded by erroneous cardinals. Can this truly be considered adherence to orthodox doctrine? Not at all. Hoping a better pope than Bergoglio would emerge from the 2025 conclave was foolish in itself. How can you catch good fish in dirty water? With Bergoglio having appointed so many erring cardinals, choosing a better pope would have been incredibly difficult, and even if one did emerge, I imagine he would have faced significant challenges... Approximately 133 cardinal electors participated in the 2025 conclave, more than half of whom were from the erring faction. My rough calculation puts the number of eligible cardinals at around 65 or 70...
Had only these cardinals participated, the outcome would have been much better. The vulnerability of the Orthodox faithful in this regard is truly regrettable. Cardinals who support homosexuality, transgenderism, and indiscriminate abortion should have actively advocated for their exclusion from the conclave, or at least protested in Rome... Given the large number of Orthodox faithful who gather for pilgrimages and other activities, such a move should have been initiated long ago. When Bergoglio violated Orthodox doctrine, they should have demonstrated it with their actions...
Of course, even if he had, it's highly likely that Bergoglio violated Orthodox doctrine, but it should have demonstrated the unwavering resolve of Orthodox Catholics. Instead, they prayed for twelve years for Bergoglio's conversion, but only saw weak movements, no repentance, and further destruction of Orthodox doctrine...If this weak behavior continues under Robert Prevost, orthodoxy will truly collapse completely, and there is a very high possibility that Bergoglio's errors will become orthodoxy. Not only that, but even the eras of Pope John Paul II and Benedict XVI will be dismissed as relics of an anachronistic era... Let us oppose Prevost's wrongdoings immediately! There's no point in waiting any longer!! It's far more important to see the actual actions of Prevost unfolding now!! These days, I'm really getting angry at those guys called Trad Inc.... It's easy to confront the blatant errorists precisely because their goals are so clear, but Trad Inc. is even more evil because they plant ridiculous illusions and tell us to stay quiet about Prevost's destruction of orthodox teachings.. We must break free from quietism... While the Lord said that not even the powers of death can destroy the Church, I don't think that means we won't be weakened. We've already lost much of North Africa and the Middle East, and we're now in the process of losing the West, and even more so, because we're in the process of losing many more. I think it's important to clearly address what's wrong and confront Prevost..... May the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus always grant you, your family and all your loved ones infinite graces....Holy Mary, all Angels and Saints.. pray for us... Amen.. take care.. have a great night... even though very horrible... but I really hope you will have a great 2026 years too...

Pope Leo intends to hold annual consistories, and to make them longer, allowing for more in-depth discussion.

As I said before - this "synodal business" of small group discussions IS the new "Vatican III" No open large gathering with ALL bishops in the world present, just committee meetings that accomplish nothing while actual decisions are made by elites behind-the-scenes. It's classic corporate bureaucracy!
