US President Donald Trump hosted senior Hasidic and ultra-Orthodox rabbis at the White House ahead of Rosh Hashanah, including the two Satmar Grand Rabbis, whose movement opposes political Zionism.
During an approximately eight-minute private meeting, Satmar Grand Rabbi Aaron Teitelbaum reportedly handed Trump a letter stating that Zionists and 'Israeli' leaders, including Benjamin Netanyahu, do not represent the Jewish people. The letter urged the US administration to treat Hasidic Jews as Jewish Americans rather than representatives of 'Israel' or Zionism.
According to Jewish Voice, Trump welcomed the message and said he would discuss it further with his staff.
