Ostro's "Blood Miracle" Has Been Investigated

On a statue of the Virgin Mary holding the baby Jesus in Ostro, a Sorbian village in Germany, a phenomenon appeared on 16 March that looked like blood on the forehead of Mary and Jesus Christ.

The statue is located in a field chapel behind a fence. The Diocese of Dresden-Meissen asked a certain Klaus Reinhardt, Professor of Applied Zoology at the Technical University of Dresden, to investigate the phenomenon.

According to Reinhardt, the red spots were caused by mites, which migrate upwards when the temperature rises, accumulating on the two foreheads.

It's so easy to fake a ,"miracle" today that anybody with a computer to allege one. The Church used to have a process to evaluate genuine ones but of course has discarded that along with many other things Catholic.

@mccallansteve The church still has 'norms' - the last document was issued in 1978 by the (then) CDF: Norms regarding the manner of proceedings in the discernment of presumed apparitions or revelations

Another alleged 'miracle' discredited. No doubt the arrogant self-appointed 'mystic' warriors of 'Countdown to the Kingdom' will be on the case soon to prove the local Ordinary and Professors wrong.
